“Teens in Custody for Murder After Cheltenham Attacks”

Two teenagers have been taken into custody on suspicion of murder following an incident where a branch was thrown from the Millennium Bridge in Cheltenham. The Gloucestershire Constabulary received a call about three males involved in an incident at approximately 7:30 pm on Wednesday. It was reported that two of the males threw a large branch from the bridge at a passing cyclist, although the cyclist was unharmed.

Following the bridge incident, the males encountered a man in his 70s on Honeybourne Way. A physical altercation ensued, resulting in one of the males striking the man, causing him to fall to the ground. The man later succumbed to his injuries.

Initially, the two boys, aged 17 and 16, were arrested on suspicion of causing serious harm. However, they have now been re-arrested on suspicion of murder after the victim’s death. The Gloucestershire Constabulary stated that both teenagers were arrested in connection with a serious assault in Cheltenham and remain in police custody.

CCTV images of the suspects were released as part of the investigation, and the public’s assistance in identifying them was appreciated by the police. The investigating officers are urging anyone with information or who witnessed the events to come forward and contact the authorities. Information can be submitted online by referencing incident 430 of April 8th on the Gloucestershire Police website.
