Two individuals tragically lost their lives following a devastating car collision in Durham over the weekend. The incident occurred on Sunday near Winnows Hill Farm at C267 School Lane by Derwent Reservoir in County Durham, prompting a response from Northumbria Police before 6 pm.
The victims, a man in his twenties and a woman in her late teens, were pronounced dead at the scene. Another male passenger in his twenties sustained injuries and was hospitalized, currently in stable condition. Authorities determined that a Volkswagen Polo traveling northbound veered off the road, crashing into a tree.
Sgt Craig Bartle urged potential witnesses to come forward, emphasizing the importance of any information that could assist in the investigation.
