Drug dealer boasts of fatal stabbing on bus: CCTV capture

Date:

A drug dealer was captured on camera laughing on a late-night bus following the fatal stabbing of a university student, proudly admitting to the murder. Dino Donaldson, aged 21, was seen on CCTV grinning and making jokes after repeatedly thrusting a knife into Anojan Gnaneswaran, also 21, at Strawberry Hill train station in Twickenham, southwest London. In a chilling recording from a doorbell camera, Donaldson boasted, “I stabbed him through the back bro, I stabbed him fully. I watched it and I felt it go in him, yeah.”

The violent incident occurred on January 8, 2024, when Donaldson chased his victim onto train tracks and viciously attacked him, stabbing him in the chest, abdomen, and thigh. The altercation stemmed from a dispute over a drug transaction involving £50 for 10 ecstasy tablets between two groups of men at the station platform.

Anojan, a dedicated third-year accounting and finance student who excelled in karate competitions at the World and European levels, tragically lost his life at the scene. Shortly after the incident, Donaldson was filmed on a night bus, smiling and laughing, wearing a black hooded top and puffer jacket while interacting with a friend.

Following his arrest three days later at his residence in west London, Donaldson was found hiding in a cupboard where police discovered 74 wraps of crack and heroin valued at over £1,000 in his bedroom. Subsequently, at the Old Bailey, Judge Angela Rafferty KC remanded Donaldson in custody and postponed sentencing.

British Transport Police Detective Chief Inspector Paul Attwell condemned the tragic turn of events, stating, “What began as a disagreement over a drug deal ended in the senseless loss of a young life due to a heartless criminal. Donaldson revealed his true nature as a coward by arming himself with a knife that night.

“His cowardice persists in his refusal to take responsibility and confess to his crime – fortunately, the jury saw through his deceit. While no legal outcome can replace the void left by Anojan’s death, we hope that today’s decision provides his family with some closure.

“Thanks to our thorough investigation, justice has been served for the individual accountable for the loss of their loved one.”

Anojan’s family honored him as a “beloved son and brother,” highlighting his academic achievements and success in sports, particularly karate competitions at international levels. They expressed deep sorrow at his absence and the impact of his untimely death.
