“Britain Set for Summer-like Warmth, Temperatures Soaring to 22C”

Date:

This weekend and into next week, Britain is expected to experience warm summer-like temperatures as indicated by the latest weather maps. Up to eight regions across the UK could see temperatures reaching up to 22C due to the influence of high-pressure systems towards the end of April.

According to forecast data from WXCharts, minimum temperatures of 20C are anticipated next Wednesday, with the warmest areas expected to be in the southern regions. Wales is projected to reach temperatures between 14 and 20C, while Scotland may experience temperatures ranging from 11 to 19C. Areas such as Somerset, Dorset, Berkshire, Hampshire, Gloucestershire, and Warwickshire could see temperatures surpassing 21C. Additionally, temperatures as high as 22C are forecasted for parts of the West Midlands and Staffordshire, well above the average April daytime maximum of 14C.

The ongoing warm spell is set to persist throughout the weekend with abundant sunshine expected across most of the country. Steven Keates, Deputy Chief Forecaster, mentioned that high pressure will continue to dominate the UK’s weather, leading to dry conditions and sunny spells. However, some regions may experience cloudier conditions at times, with possible patchy rain in northern Scotland towards the weekend.

Temperatures are predicted to progressively rise, peaking in the low twenties by Friday and over the weekend, especially in sunlit areas. Coastal regions may experience cooler temperatures due to onshore breezes. Clear skies and light winds overnight could also lead to patchy frost in certain areas.

With peak tree pollen season underway, hay fever sufferers in Britain, totaling 16 million, are cautioned about potential symptoms exacerbated by the sunny weather and clear skies this weekend. The Met Office’s pollen forecast indicates ‘High’ levels across England and Wales on Saturday, reaching ‘Very High’ in the Scottish Borders.

Experts at St John’s Ambulance advise measures to reduce pollen exposure, such as wearing wraparound sunglasses and applying Vaseline around the nostrils to prevent pollen from entering the eyes and nose.

The weather outlook suggests morning low cloud clearing to make way for a sunny day, with warmth for most regions but cooler temperatures along the eastern coasts. The period ahead is expected to remain mostly dry and sunny, with occasional overnight fog and frost, particularly in the east. Overall, temperatures are anticipated to be above average for many areas.
