“Arrest made in Lucy Letby case obstruction probe”

Date:

Police have made a recent arrest related to the investigation of Lucy Letby, the nurse responsible for the deaths of multiple infants. Cheshire Constabulary conducted a search at a property and apprehended an individual suspected of obstructing justice. The arrested person was later released on bail pending further investigation.

Lucy Letby, aged 36 and hailing from Hereford, received a sentence of 15 life terms for the murder of seven babies and the attempted murder of seven others while working at the neonatal unit of the Countess of Chester Hospital between June 2015 and June 2016. The individual detained for obstructing justice is believed to have been part of the hospital’s management team.

Authorities stated that the arrest was made in connection with “Operation Duet,” an ongoing probe into corporate and gross negligence manslaughter at the hospital. The investigation continues with no specific timeline provided.

This development follows a statement by Sir David Davis in March, where he criticized the police force’s handling of the case, calling for a review and requesting the disclosure of various documents. In response, Cheshire Constabulary defended its actions, denouncing misinformation and emphasizing the importance of fact-based scrutiny.

Lucy Letby’s case is under review by the Criminal Cases Review Commission after her appeals were rejected in 2024.
