Jeffrey Epstein reportedly provided accommodation for his victims in luxury apartments in an affluent area of the UK following the Metropolitan Police’s decision not to investigate his criminal activities. Recently released emails from the Epstein files revealed that the notorious sex abuser rented four upscale flats in Kensington and Chelsea, where six women identified through receipts and bank records have now come forward as victims of his crimes.
An investigation by the BBC uncovered that these women, originating from various locations including Russia and Europe, were brought to the UK after the Metropolitan Police opted not to look into an allegation made by Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre regarding her trafficking to London. Emails within the files indicated that the National Crime Agency shared intelligence with the FBI in 2020 regarding Epstein’s illicit transactions, including payments for renting one of the flats in Chelsea where victims were housed.
Despite being situated in a posh London neighborhood, the flats were described as overcrowded, with women having to sleep on sofas. Some of these women were coerced into recruiting other women to expand Epstein’s criminal network. The Metropolitan Police conducted multiple interviews with Ms. Giuffre, who passed away last year, but decided against launching a criminal investigation even after new information emerged in subsequent years.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson mentioned that no criminal conduct allegations in London have been reported by the six women connected to the case. However, specialist officers are prepared to speak to them if they choose to come forward. The police have reached out to the BBC to assist in communicating this to the women. Should new allegations or information arise, the police will assess them in accordance with established procedures and UK law.
