President Donald Trump has instructed the United States to reassess claims to the Falklands as part of a move to retaliate against Britain and other countries for not supporting his actions against Iran, as per revealed documents.
The surprising proposal was reportedly found in an internal Pentagon email detailing potential measures to penalize NATO allies who did not back his Middle East campaign. Trump expressed frustration with the alliance, insisting he could handle Iran without assistance.
Despite initially pursuing his Iran objectives alone, Trump later called on allies to participate and criticized nations that denied US access to their military bases, leading to his threat to withdraw from NATO.
Reportedly, Trump is contemplating various punishments, including reconsidering support for European “colonial possessions,” such as the Falkland Islands near Argentina.
Additionally, the US President is contemplating expelling Spain from the alliance due to Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez’s refusal to grant permission for US base usage during strikes on Iran.
Trump has also criticized UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer for not supporting his Iran conflict and has disparaged him as lacking courage, comparing him unfavorably to Winston Churchill.
Furthermore, the US is reportedly exploring the suspension of certain “challenging” countries from key NATO positions and the potential withdrawal of troops from Europe.
In response to inquiries about the document, Pentagon Press Secretary Kingsley Wilson highlighted President Trump’s concerns over NATO allies not reciprocating US support. The Defense Department aims to present viable options for ensuring allies fulfill their responsibilities.
Trump began considering the possibility of NATO departure following prolonged conflict in Iran, contrary to his initial expectations, leading to global oil price surges.
When questioned previously about a potential US exit from NATO, Trump hinted at such a move, but the Pentagon document does not explicitly propose leaving the alliance or shutting down US bases in Europe.
