A British mother, Wendy Duffy, aged 56, has made the decision to travel to Switzerland for assisted dying, despite not having a terminal illness. Wendy, a former care worker from the West Midlands, paid £10,000 to end her life at the Pegasos clinic. Her choice to pursue this option follows the tragic loss of her son Marcus at the age of 23, four years ago.
Despite receiving therapy and taking antidepressants over the years, Wendy has struggled to cope with the death of her son. She joins a growing number of British individuals who have sought assisted dying in Switzerland since the UK’s Assisted Dying Bill was first introduced in the House of Lords on June 23, 2025.
