Camera traps set up to find a missing capybara from a Hampshire zoo have been stolen, zoo staff disclosed. The capybara named Samba, who escaped from Marwell Zoo, remains at large despite extensive search efforts. Samba fled alongside another capybara, Tango, but Tango was quickly captured. Laura Reed, the CEO of Marwell Zoo, confirmed the theft of two camera traps and urged the public to stay alert and assist in locating Samba. Despite reported sightings and search operations using thermal drones and camera traps, Samba is yet to be found. The zoo faces challenges due to the stolen camera traps and the possibility of mistaken sightings of Muntjac deer as Samba. Despite the setbacks, the search for Samba continues with a focus on her safe return home.
