A man accused of a potential assassination attempt on Donald Trump confessed to being ready to shoot through crowds to reach his targets, as per a troubling manifesto sent shortly before the incident. Cole Tomas Allen, the suspected shooter at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, reportedly detailed his plan for the shooting at the Washington Hilton, including weapon choices and his willingness to go to extreme lengths.
In a particularly alarming excerpt, he stated, “In order to minimize casualties I will also be using buckshot rather than slugs (less penetration through walls). I would still go through most everyone here to get to the targets if it were absolutely necessary (on the basis that most people chose to attend a speech by a pedophile, rapist, and traitor, and are thus complicit) but I really hope it doesn’t come to that.”
The manifesto, allegedly sent to family members just before the shooting, outlined what Allen referred to as his “rules of engagement,” with senior government figures as his main targets. The document also mentioned a priority list of administration officials as targets, excluding Mr. Patel, and specified that law enforcement would only be targeted if deemed necessary.
Of significant concern is Allen’s apparent readiness to harm bystanders, highlighting the grave danger faced by all present at the event. The manifesto also attempted to rationalize his actions, citing a refusal to allow alleged crimes of a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to go unchecked, seemingly in reference to Trump.
Expressing remorse while discussing his plan in a calculated manner, Allen concluded the document with criticisms of the lax security at the hotel, where he claimed he entered armed without raising suspicion.
The attack unfolded rapidly, with the suspect heading toward the ballroom before being apprehended by security. Despite an officer being shot, the bulletproof vest saved their life, and Trump along with other officials were swiftly evacuated to safety.
Investigators are now scrutinizing the manifesto, particularly focusing on passages indicating the suspect’s willingness to cause widespread harm. This has raised urgent inquiries into how such a detailed and premeditated attack nearly materialized.
