‘Beau Greaves Makes History with PDC Title Win’

Date:

The parents of professional darts player Beau Greaves shared how she began her journey in the sport at the age of 10, quickly rising to defeat world champions by the age of 15. Known as ‘Beau ‘n’ Arrow,’ she made history by becoming the first woman to claim a PDC ranking title, triumphing over Michael Smith in the Player’s Championship 11 final in Milton Keynes.

During the decisive leg, Beau secured victory with a remarkable 142 checkout, expressing her surprise at winning the title. Her parents, Tracy and David, recounted how Beau started playing darts at home in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, inspired by her older brother Taylor. Despite minimal practice, Beau’s natural talent shone through, leading her to excel in local leagues and eventually compete against renowned players like Lisa Ashton and Anastasia Dobromyslova.

Despite her success, Beau remained modest about her achievements, keeping her darts career a secret at school until she was selected to represent England. Her reluctance for media attention contrasts with her lively personality at home. Her darts journey has taken her across Europe, Australia, and Japan, with her parents revealing her early custom darts designed by Mervyn King.

In her impressive run to the Milton Keynes final, Beau, a three-time WDF Women’s World Champion, defeated former world champions Rob Cross and Gary Anderson. Reflecting on her victory, she expressed joy and disbelief at overcoming players she once admired, highlighting her determination to continue succeeding on a larger stage.

Beau’s emotional post-match statements conveyed her pride in her accomplishments, marking the Milton Keynes triumph as a significant milestone in her career. Her ambition to excel further, particularly on television, reflects her unwavering dedication to the sport.
