An individual has been apprehended following an incident where two police officers and another person were hospitalized in a suspected hit-and-run in Hamilton, Scotland. The event occurred on Fleming Way at approximately 9:30 am on Tuesday. The driver reportedly fled the scene, causing injuries to one officer before colliding with a stationary vehicle while escaping.
The collision resulted in injuries to a 22-year-old male passenger and an additional police officer. Although all three individuals required hospitalization, their injuries are reported as non-life-threatening.
Subsequently, an 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with the case and was also taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure. Fleming Way has been closed off to allow for investigations by collision experts.
A spokesperson from Police Scotland stated, “During the attempt to escape, one officer sustained injuries. The vehicle then collided with a stationary vehicle nearby. The 22-year-old male passenger and an additional officer were also injured in the crash, and all three individuals were taken to the hospital with injuries not deemed life-threatening.”
“The 18-year-old male driver initially fled the scene but was later located. He has been arrested in connection with the incident and taken to the hospital as a precaution. Fleming Way remains inaccessible to facilitate the crash probe.”
