A tragic incident occurred last week when a cyclist, identified as Thomas Brown, aged 29 and a father, was critically injured in a hit-and-run on Heath Way, Hodge Hill. Brown, described as a kind-hearted individual, was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham after the collision on April 26. Sadly, he passed away due to his injuries.

Authorities have confirmed Brown’s death, but the driver responsible for the hit-and-run is still at large. A vehicle believed to be linked to the incident has been seized by the police for forensic examination. Investigators are urging anyone with information, especially those who may have witnessed a black estate-type car fleeing the scene around 7:45 pm towards Coleshill Road, to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Adam Alcock, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, expressed condolences to Brown’s family and urged the public to assist in providing information. He emphasized the severity of road collisions and the importance of finding answers for the victim’s family. Alcock also mentioned the presence of other cars and witnesses at the scene captured by CCTV, appealing for their cooperation with the investigation.

Individuals with relevant information are encouraged to contact West Midlands Police at 101, quoting log 4048-26042, or email the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at sciu@westmidlands.police.uk.
