A young child, aged six, tragically passed away after being struck by a vehicle in Ellesmere Port. The family fondly remembers Kanan-Jay McLeod as a delightful boy who brought happiness to everyone who knew him.
The incident occurred on Anchor Drive on April 19 when Kanan-Jay was hit by a black Infiniti FX30D. Despite efforts to save him, the cheerful boy sustained severe injuries and, unfortunately, succumbed to them while in the hospital.
Following the tragic event, a 48-year-old man was apprehended on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, drug driving, and driving without a proper license. He has been released on bail, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.
In a heartfelt tribute, Kanan-Jay’s family described him as a lively and lovable child who had a penchant for gaming, cars, and football, particularly supporting Liverpool Football Club. They expressed their deep sorrow at his loss but also conveyed gratitude for the overwhelming support and kindness received from the community during this challenging time.
To assist with funeral expenses, Kanan-Jay’s auntie initiated a JustGiving fundraiser, which has garnered over £18,000. The fundraiser aims to provide the young boy with a fitting farewell and help his family cope with the tragedy.
At the site of the accident on Anchor Drive, floral tributes and messages honoring Kanan-Jay have been left by well-wishers. The community has also shown their support by leaving flowers at the Whitby Sports and Social Club.
