A 20-year-old football player, Oteta Kristina Kitiona, is facing allegations of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy and sharing nude photos with him.
Kitiona, who was part of Samoa’s FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifying squad in 2027, is accused of engaging in inappropriate behavior with the teenager over a six-month period in Utah in 2024.
Court documents reveal that the incidents occurred before Kitiona went to college. The boy reported that she would visit his residence “two to three times a week” for sexual encounters between June and October 2024.
The relationship paused when Kitiona left for Bellevue College in Washington state but resumed upon her return home a month later. During this break, Kitiona allegedly sent explicit images and videos to the boy, described as “fully exposed.”
Additionally, the documents indicate that she encouraged him to share nude photos of himself, even while he was showering.
In Utah, the legal age of consent is 18 years old.
Kitiona was charged two months after participating in Samoa’s national women’s football team for the World Cup qualifiers. She is facing charges of distributing harmful material to a minor and three counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor under 21 years old.
Kitiona is scheduled to appear in court on June 6.
