A woman claims she was scratched by a “demonic spirit” of a child named Sallie while exploring a notorious ‘haunted’ residence. Brocarde, aged 42, decided to spend a night in the ‘Sallie House’ located in Atchison, Kansas.
The historic home from the 19th century is reputed to be haunted, with numerous individuals reporting encounters with paranormal phenomena and apparitions. According to local legend, a doctor conducted surgery on a young girl named Sallie at the property in the 1900s, but she tragically passed away.
Hailing from Oxfordshire, Brocarde revealed that she felt deeply unsettled and confined to bed for days after her time in the house. She described the entire residence as extremely eerie and draining of energy upon arrival.
“The house exudes an unsettling atmosphere. Upon entering, it saps every bit of vitality from you,” she stated. “Almost devoid of furnishings, except for a vast collection of toys and dolls, the interior decor seems frozen in time, reminiscent of a house awaiting a grand renovation by a distant ancestor. The scent in the air is peculiar, a blend of decaying flesh and potent chemicals.”
Brocarde highlighted the nursery as the most chilling room, recounting an encounter with a circle of dolls seemingly engaged in a seance. “Standing in the center of the circle, I felt a weight descend upon my legs, as if they were being pulled into the ground,” she shared. “My limbs grew sore, a peculiar sensation enveloped me, and a strong urge to depart took hold. This experience occurred in the afternoon, with the entire night still ahead. Strange occurrences persisted, but it wasn’t until around 3am that I faced something that prompted my departure.”
After spending hours within the house, Brocarde claimed to have been physically grabbed in the basement, sensing an “otherworldly” presence intensify. “It became evident that sleep was out of the question, and around 3am, I made the decision to return to the nursery and confront whatever lurked within,” she explained.
Attempting to communicate with ‘Sallie,’ Brocarde picked up a pink crayon, which broke in her hand. Subsequently, she switched to a black crayon, inquiring about the message. “‘Go home’ was the response, followed by the crayon snapping in two. At that moment, a force seized me from behind, resulting in a sharp pain in my arm. I rolled up my sleeve to reveal five scratch marks, resembling tally marks, etched on my skin,” she detailed.
Feeling unwell and disoriented, Brocarde described witnessing the apparition of a young girl. As she pursued the figure into a bedroom, she observed an object hurled down the stairs from the nursery. This led her to question who, besides the girl in the bedroom, was causing disturbances in the nursery.
Deciding it was time to depart, Brocarde experienced another leg-grabbing incident on the stairs, prompting her final exit from the house. She emphasized a sinister presence haunting the Sallie House, prompting her to leave. An unsettling drawing of Sallie in the kitchen contrasted sharply with the spectral image she encountered, depicting a disheveled figure in a medical gown without the charming bow seen in the drawing.
Brocarde had previously made headlines for her alleged marriage to the ghost of a Victorian soldier named Edwardo. Documenting their tumultuous relationship, which culminated in an exorcism ‘divorce,’ she has since delved further into the realm of paranormal exploration.
