“Explosion in Scarborough Prompts Evacuations”

An explosion shook Scarborough early this morning, leading to the evacuation of numerous homes in the area. Emergency services, including the police, ambulance, and North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue, are currently present at the scene on Cambridge Street following the blast that occurred just before 6 am today.

According to a resident interviewed by This Is The Coast, individuals were awoken by a loud noise around 5:45 am. As a safety precaution, Cambridge Street and Victoria Road have been cordoned off, and access to the Aldi supermarket is restricted.

North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue stated that they are assisting in a coordinated response to reports of an explosion at a residential property on Cambridge Street in Scarborough. The incident was reported at approximately 5:45 am today, resulting in the evacuation of around 50 to 70 nearby residences and businesses. Emergency crews, including firefighters, ambulance services, police, and gas board officials, are actively managing the situation.
