A recent poll has revealed that the majority of Brits believe Donald Trump’s second term in office has negatively impacted the UK, with only a small percentage viewing it positively. The survey found that 58% of respondents thought Trump’s return was bad for Britain, while only 11% considered it good. Additionally, 41% of participants feel that Prime Minister Keir Starmer should adopt a tougher stance towards the US President, with more than half of them suggesting he should be significantly more critical.
Last month, the Mirror reported that voters praised Starmer for his handling of Trump and the Iran conflict, considering it one of his successful moves as Prime Minister. Despite initially maintaining an amicable relationship with Trump, Starmer drew criticism from the US President for his refusal to support military actions in the Middle East. Trump criticized Starmer for not allowing bombing missions from UK bases, labeling him “no Winston Churchill.”
Nevertheless, almost half of the surveyed individuals (43%) indicated that their opinion of Starmer remained unchanged due to his position on Trump’s war. Trump, commenting on Starmer’s political future, stated that the Labour leader could bounce back if he permits oil drilling in the North Sea and enforces stricter immigration policies. The former President expressed doubts about Starmer’s chances if these actions are not taken.
The poll conducted by Deltapoll involved 3,353 British adults, including respondents from Wales and Scotland. The data has been adjusted to reflect the overall British adult population.
