A travel company based in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, Gold Crest Holidays, has recently gone into voluntary liquidation, leading to the cancellation of all scheduled trips. The company, which had been operating for over 30 years, offered coach tours across the UK and Europe, including visits to Disneyland Paris and major sports events. Financial challenges were cited as the primary reason for the closure.
Gold Crest Holidays, also known as Advent, Advent Tours, and Overseas Dream Weddings, announced that all future journeys would be called off, and refunds would be handled by the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA). The decision was a result of the significant impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, alterations in key business partnerships, and a tough trading environment marked by rising expenses.
In January, the company halted its operations and expressed gratitude to customers, travel agents, suppliers, and employees for their support throughout the years. The closure was attributed to the enduring effects of the global health crisis, changes in strategic partnerships, and mounting operational costs.
Customers were informed that all upcoming packages were canceled and advised to contact event organizers for ticket validity. Those who paid with credit cards were instructed to download a credit card referral letter for potential refunds. Travel agents were requested to liaise with ABTA for claims processing on behalf of their clients.
