Two British tourists carried out a violent assault on three individuals at a cocktail bar in Majorca after being denied additional drinks by a staff member. According to a four-page indictment from public prosecutors, Tommy Colm Witty, 24, and Alexander Lee Anderson, 33, along with two other unidentified individuals, became aggressive towards the female employee for refusing to serve them.
The indictment detailed that the tourists made inappropriate remarks and gestures towards the worker, leading to a physical altercation where the employee was pushed to the ground and injured. A male colleague who intervened was also attacked, and another customer sustained injuries while trying to protect himself from a thrown glass.
CCTV footage of the incident showed the brutal assault, with Witty identified as the perpetrator of the glass attack. The victims required medical treatment, including stitches, and had to take time off work due to their injuries. Witty and Anderson faced potential jail time but reached a plea bargain agreement before their trial in Palma.
Witty received a two-year suspended prison sentence, while Anderson was fined 720 Euros. As part of the plea deal, they agreed to compensate the victims financially. Initially arrested for attempted homicide, the tourists were later charged with three counts of wounding. Authorities reported the incident as a violent altercation at a nightspot in Palmanova, leading to the tourists’ arrest.
The Civil Guard spokesperson described the chaotic scene, where the tourists attacked employees and strangers before being apprehended. The injured individuals were promptly taken to the hospital for treatment. The suspects were detained following the altercation, which involved physical violence and serious injuries.
