Rowdy passengers caused a disturbance on a Ryanair flight by playing loud music and ignoring requests to sit down from the cabin crew. Brandon Stephenson, one of the passengers, continued the party atmosphere on the Newcastle to Ibiza flight on April 26 despite crew instructions.
During the flight at 30,000ft, the 28-year-old used a speaker to blast music and danced in the aisles, much to the annoyance of some crew members. However, Brandon dismissed criticism of the incident, labeling his detractors as “morbid.”
In response to the backlash, Brandon mentioned that the majority of passengers were enjoying the lively atmosphere, with even young children joining in the dancing and singing. Video footage showed passengers standing, dancing, and drinking in the aisles while the cabin crew tried to navigate through the plane.
Although Brandon seemed to lead the commotion, not all online viewers were impressed. He shared that he had received “death threats” and abusive messages on social media after posting the video. Despite the negative reactions, Brandon found the responses amusing and encouraged more feedback.
Opinions on the incident were divided among viewers, with some considering it the “worst flight ever” and others expressing sympathy for other passengers inconvenienced by the disruption. However, some viewers saw the situation as a fun and lighthearted way to alleviate flight anxiety.
The Mirror has reached out to Ryanair for a statement. UK aviation regulations regarding “unruly conduct” grant airlines the authority to take various actions against disruptive passengers, including in-flight intervention, bans, and legal consequences. Disruptive behavior can lead to flight diversions, with passengers potentially bearing the cost of such actions, as outlined by the Civil Aviation Authority.
