Holidaymakers at Tenerife South airport will soon have the opportunity to indulge in a Greggs sausage roll as the renowned baker is set to launch its first international outlet there. Greggs, known for its baked goods, previously operated shops abroad in Belgium in 2008, but is now eager to explore new horizons in Tenerife.
While an exact opening date has not been confirmed yet, the upcoming shop located in the airport’s international departures area will offer a variety of pastries, rolls, sweet treats, and freshly-made sandwiches. Customers can also enjoy a Spanish omelette roll and freshly squeezed orange juice from the breakfast menu, providing a taste of island life.
With Tenerife South airport catering to approximately 13 million travelers annually, half of whom are from the UK, Greggs sees this as a strategic move to cater to a diverse customer base without compromising on affordability. The new outlet will have seating for up to 92 guests, enhancing the overall dining experience.
Roisin Currie, the CEO of Greggs, expressed enthusiasm about the venture, emphasizing the significance of Tenerife South Airport as a bustling hub for both UK and international passengers. Partnering with Lagardere Travel Retail, a global operator with a wide presence in various countries, Greggs aims to provide a familiar and comforting dining option for passengers as they embark on their journeys.
Javier Cagigal, the CEO of Lagardere Travel Retail Spain and Portugal, highlighted the collaboration with Greggs as an exciting opportunity to introduce a beloved brand to Tenerife South Airport. The partnership seeks to offer travelers a convenient and enjoyable dining experience, whether they are looking for a quick treat or a relaxing moment before their departure.
