Emergency services responded to a flight that had to make an emergency landing at Dublin Airport this evening. The United Parcel Service (UPS) flight 207/5X207 executed an emergency touchdown on the airport’s north runway due to a landing gear issue.
After encountering a problem over the Irish Sea, the flight had to perform two go arounds before successfully landing in Dublin. Originating from Louisville, the flight was delayed from its scheduled arrival time of just before 6 pm due to the landing gear malfunction. Emergency services were on standby as the plane landed safely at 6:45 pm.
As a precaution, all flight operations were redirected from the north runway to the south runway to address the issue and remove the aircraft from the path. Despite this change, Dublin Airport continued to operate normally with all flights using the south runway.
Dublin Airport assured passengers that all departures and arrivals were proceeding as usual, with only the south runway in operation while the airfield operations team managed the situation on the north runway. This incident occurred shortly after a Ryanair flight bound for Spain had to return to the UK following a mid-air emergency earlier in the week.
The Ryanair flight, FR7842, departed from Glasgow Prestwick Airport for Murcia but had to divert to Stansted Airport after a passenger fell ill onboard. The aircraft landed safely at 9:10 am, and the passenger received medical attention upon disembarkation.
A spokesperson for Ryanair confirmed the incident, stating that the diversion to Stansted was necessary due to the passenger’s health condition. Medical assistance was arranged to meet the aircraft upon landing to assist the affected passenger.
