“Drone Strike Hits Moscow: Three Dead, Dozens Injured”

Date:

A drone strike targeted Moscow in the early hours of Sunday, as confirmed by local authorities. Social media images captured explosions in various parts of the Russian capital and its vicinity, including at an oil refinery.

The drone attack resulted in at least three fatalities in the Moscow region and left 12 individuals injured, according to Russian officials. Governor Andrei Vorobyov of Moscow region reported that two men lost their lives in Pogorelki village, while a woman was killed in Khimki, to the north of Moscow.

Governor Vorobyov also mentioned that the strike caused damage to several residential buildings and critical infrastructure sites. Operations at all four Moscow airports were disrupted multiple times since late Saturday following the incident.

This strike on the Moscow region appears to be part of a broader offensive, with the Russian Defence Ministry confirming the downing of over 550 drones across the country.

Regarding the drone attack on Moscow’s oil refinery, Mayor Sergey Sobyanin assured that the facility’s technology remained unaffected. However, he noted that the workforce had been impacted by the incident.

While Russian authorities have attributed the attack to Ukraine, the country has not taken responsibility for the assault.
