A Jewish man was assaulted by five masked individuals, resulting in injuries to his face and back. The incident occurred in Golders Green, North London, and the victim, a 22-year-old, was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment of cuts and bruises.
The Metropolitan Police are investigating the case as an antisemitic hate crime, although no arrests have been made so far. The attackers, described as five masked men, reportedly pursued and then assaulted the victim.
Following the attack, the community-led Jewish volunteer civilian patrol group, Shomrim, expressed shock and concern. They emphasized the recent surge in anti-Semitic incidents and the impact of such violence on the community, condemning any form of anti-Semitic hatred, violence, or intimidation.
The police have confirmed that the assault is being treated as a racially and religiously aggravated offense. The Hate Crime Unit is leading the investigation, with ongoing support from Shomrim, who have provided CCTV footage to aid the inquiry.
In response to the incident, Shomrim has increased patrols in the area to reassure and support the community. The police spokesperson urged anyone with information to come forward by contacting the authorities.
This attack follows a series of violent events in Golders Green, including the recent charges against Essa Suleiman for attempted murder in the same neighborhood.
