A woman weighing 21 stone shared her weight loss journey using injections but regained the weight after discontinuing them due to cost constraints. Pamela Phillips, 42, highlighted concerns about weight gain post-injections cessation, with experts suggesting potential lifelong usage. Pamela, from Wolverhampton, faced weight struggles since her teens, experimenting with various diets.
In 2010, after giving birth, Pamela reached 22st 7lbs, later fluctuating weight seasonally. Starting Saxenda injections in 2022 at 20st 11lbs, she lost three stone in three months before financial constraints halted the treatment. Despite initial success, weight returned as she couldn’t sustain the injections long-term.
Facing back surgery in January due to weight constraints, Pamela opted for gastric sleeve surgery in May 2023. Remarkably, she dropped from 20st 8lbs to 11st post-surgery and has since maintained her weight loss through lifestyle changes. Reflecting on her journey, Pamela emphasized the necessity of bariatric surgery for long-term weight management over temporary solutions like injections.
Pamela’s weight struggles began at 15, trying various diets through university and motherhood, facing back issues due to excess weight. Following surgery, she adopted smaller portions without depriving herself, feeling rejuvenated and embracing life with newfound vigor.
