Officials from SKS Copack and the US Food and Drug Administration announced the recall on May 23, warning about the dangers of salmonella infection. Symptoms of salmonella poisoning can include fever, bloody diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare cases, the infection can lead to more severe conditions like arterial infections, endocarditis, and arthritis, particularly in vulnerable populations such as the elderly or young children.
The recalled products were distributed widely through cafes, restaurants, and direct delivery services in states like California, New York, Texas, and others. However, there have been no reports of contaminated products reaching the UK, ensuring British bubble tea enthusiasts remain unaffected by the recall.
