Luke Littler recently shared that he extended an invitation to Prince William to attend this year’s PDC World Championship at Alexandra Palace. The 19-year-old met the Prince of Wales at Windsor Castle following his MBE recognition as a rising star in darts.
During their conversation, Littler mentioned that Prince William expressed interest in experiencing an evening at Ally Pally, describing it as an enjoyable outing. The two-time world champion then cordially invited the future king to join the championship event.
Reflecting on their discussion, Littler mentioned, “Prince William mentioned that he has been following the sport’s journey and we talked about the immense popularity darts has gained.” While he did not formally invite the prince, Littler offered to assist in securing tickets through himself or the PDC if needed.
Prince William, known for his fervor for football, recently celebrated Aston Villa’s victory in the Europa League, praising the team’s performance on social media. Villa defender Matty Cash shared that the prince joined the team in celebrating their success over a drink, highlighting his dedicated support for the club.
The possibility of Prince William developing a similar passion for darts remains uncertain. Nonetheless, Littler expressed his astonishment at the opportunity to converse with the prince, describing it as an extraordinary experience.
Following his prestigious MBE recognition alongside notable figures like actress Cynthia Erivo and comedian Matt Lucas, Littler emphasized his gratitude for the acknowledgment of his contributions to the sport.
Looking ahead, Littler is focused on reclaiming the Premier League Darts title for the second time in his career. He is set to compete against Gerwyn Price in the upcoming semi-final, with the winner advancing to face either Jonny Clayton or Luke Humphries in the final showdown.
Expressing his ambitions, Littler stated, “Achieving a third consecutive final appearance would be satisfying, but my primary goal is to triumph over Gezzy first.” As speculation arises about a potential final matchup between the two Littlers, the darts prodigy remains determined to continue his winning streak.
