“Tragic Discovery: Body of 12-Year-Old Found in River Ribble”

Date:

The authorities in Lancashire have recovered the body of a child from the River Ribble. Lancashire Police stated that the body is believed to be that of a 12-year-old boy who encountered difficulties while swimming with friends in the river at Ribchester on Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency services responded to reports of concern for the child’s well-being in Ribble Valley around 2 pm. A comprehensive search operation, involving Lancashire Police’s underwater search unit, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service crews, and the North West Ambulance Service, was launched.

At approximately 7:50 pm, Lancashire Police confirmed the recovery of the child’s body. Although formal identification is pending, authorities are confident it is the missing boy. The incident is not considered suspicious, and a report will be forwarded to HM Coroner in the future. The family of the boy is receiving support from specially trained officers during this challenging time.

The police expressed their condolences, stating, “Our thoughts are with his loved ones during this extremely distressing period.” Earlier images from the scene depicted the area near the river cordoned off as emergency teams conducted the search operation.
