“Monzo Launches Mobile Service with Loyalty Discounts”

Date:

Monzo has unveiled its inaugural mobile plans, offering annual discounts to its customers. The Monzo Mobile service is set to debut this summer, with a waitlist opening today. Plan options include 10GB of UK data for £8 per month, as well as a package with 30GB of UK data and 10GB of Europe roaming for £12 monthly.

Moreover, there will be a premium plan featuring unlimited UK data and 25GB of global roaming for £20 per month. Exclusively available to Monzo account holders, the mobile service will provide loyalty discounts, with customers receiving a 5% reduction on their monthly bill each year, up to a total discount of 30%.

All plans will offer flexibility, allowing customers to switch or cancel without any exit fees. Users can conveniently manage their mobile bills through the Monzo app, which enables tracking data usage and monitoring roaming activities.

Operating via an eSIM, a digital SIM card integrated into devices, the service will utilize the Virgin Media O2 network, providing more than 99% coverage across the UK. Duygu Yenidogan-Schmidt, General Manager for Core Banking at Monzo, emphasized the company’s commitment to offering a simple, transparent, and flexible mobile experience that rewards customer loyalty.

While Monzo Mobile offers yearly discounts, customers can find cheaper upfront deals elsewhere. For instance, Lebara provides 10GB of UK data for £5.95 monthly on a rolling contract through comparison platforms. Alternative options include Talkmobile, offering 20GB for £5.95 per month, and ID Mobile, providing 25GB of UK data for £6 monthly, along with an unlimited plan for £15 monthly.

For those not under contract, it is advisable to review and potentially reduce mobile expenses by comparing prices using online tools. After evaluating alternatives, individuals can switch to a new provider for cost savings or negotiate with their current provider for better terms.

Additionally, individuals receiving benefits should explore eligibility for social tariffs, which can offer broadband services starting from £12 per month and mobile plans from £10 monthly. Eligibility criteria vary among providers, and individuals may need to inquire directly to determine qualification.
