“Serena Williams Eyes Doubles Comeback at Queen’s Club”

Date:

Serena Williams has put in a request for a doubles wild card to team up with 19-year-old Canadian Victoria Mboko at Queen’s Club in the upcoming tournament. This return to the court would mark her comeback after retiring four years ago following a remarkable career with 23 Grand Slam titles.

After re-entering the anti-doping testing pool last August and completing a mandatory six-month period, Serena is now eligible to compete. Reports suggest that she is aiming for a wild card entry into the pre-Wimbledon event.

Although Serena’s current plans do not indicate participation in singles matches, former player Andy Roddick believes she will eventually return to Wimbledon for singles competition. He sees the prestigious Grand Slam as her best chance to relive past triumphs.

During a recent podcast, Roddick expressed his belief that re-entering doping protocols signifies a strong inclination to make a comeback. He noted Serena’s exceptional physical condition and speculated that her return on the grass courts of Wimbledon might offer her the best opportunity for success.

Roddick further predicted that Serena will likely compete in singles matches, with a possibility of also playing doubles, possibly motivated by a desire to team up with her sister Venus for one final run at the US Open.

Following an emotional farewell at the US Open in 2022, Serena shared her struggle with stepping away from tennis in a Vogue piece. She expressed mixed feelings of sadness and readiness for the next chapter in her life, balancing her passion for the sport with her other ventures, including Serena Ventures and her family expansion plans.

In the realm of sports broadcasting, Sky has enhanced its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle by adding popular streaming services like HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, discovery+, and Hayu. The package now includes 135 channels with comprehensive coverage of the Premier League, EFL, Formula 1, darts, and golf, totaling over 1,400 live matches across different sports.
