A mother was shocked to find out that a man dating her 17-year-old daughter, who also spent time at their home with her baby, was a registered sex offender, as revealed in court. The man, Blake Moorhouse, 21, had previously received a three-year community order for engaging in sexual activity with a 14-year-old in March 2026. Despite claiming remorse for his actions and agreeing to comply with court-imposed conditions, Moorhouse was found to be violating restrictions on contact with minors.
At Preston Crown Court, it was disclosed that Moorhouse, residing in Blackpool, had established an online relationship with the teenager, who had a young child. He visited her multiple times, staying in her bedroom where her baby also slept, although the girl insisted their relationship was not sexual.
Following the issuance of a sexual harm prevention order on March 6, Moorhouse failed to disclose his sex offender status to his new girlfriend and her mother, misleading them about the nature of his upcoming court appearance. When contacted by MOSOVO, the police unit managing sexual offenders, suspicions arose, prompting the discovery of Moorhouse’s true background. Subsequently, he surrendered to the authorities upon realizing they were searching for him.
Moorhouse, hailing from Thornton-Cleveleys, admitted to breaching his Sexual Harm Prevention Order and notification requirements on six counts. Judge Robert Altham expressed regret for not imposing custody during Moorhouse’s initial sentencing, remarking that immediate imprisonment was now deemed necessary due to the severity of his actions and the danger he posed to children. Consequently, Moorhouse was sentenced to two years and four months for the original offense involving a 14-year-old, with an additional six months for breaching the SHPO and notification requirements.
