The Kremlin has issued a warning to Western nations to brace themselves for additional drone strikes similar to the recent incident on NATO territory in Romania. Russia has pointed fingers at the UK and its allies for the escalation.
Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy head of the Kremlin’s security council and former Russian president, stated, “They should be prepared as this will persist. We are in a state of war.” He accused the West of instigating the conflict initiated by Putin, which has devastated Ukraine, directing blame at NATO leaders as “scum.” Medvedev highlighted the direct involvement of European states in the conflict with Russia, emphasizing the impact on civilians due to their support for Ukrainian nationalists.
During a Russian attack on Ukraine, a Russian drone crashed into a building in Galati, causing injuries in the NATO member country for the first time in Russia’s four-year war on Ukraine. Medvedev continued to hold the UK and its allies accountable, labeling them as “scumbags” responsible for the situation, including recent tragic events in Luhansk.
Sir Keir Starmer condemned the strike as a “serious breach of NATO airspace” and emphasized the threat posed by Russia’s aggression to the continent’s security. Despite widespread criticism, Medvedev threatened more drone strikes, warning European nations not to rest peacefully due to their involvement in supporting Ukrainian forces.
Medvedev reiterated the daily impact of European support on Russia’s civilian population and infrastructure, urging accountability from Western leaders. This rhetoric, reflecting Russian desperation as they face setbacks in the conflict with Ukraine, was echoed by Dmitry Rogozin, a Russian senator.
Romania and NATO have pledged to enhance their defenses in response to the escalating situation, with Bucharest denouncing Russia’s actions as irresponsible. Romania deployed F-16 fighters and expelled a Russian diplomat, signaling a firm response to the recent events.
The tensions between Russia, Ukraine, and Western nations continue to escalate, with threats of further drone strikes and diplomatic repercussions unfolding in the aftermath of the recent incident in Romania.
