Jet2 Launches Direct Flights to Greek Island Gem

Date:

Jet2 has recently launched flights to a picturesque Greek island known for its rugged mountains, quaint cobblestone streets, and refreshing waterfalls.

In May 2026, the budget carrier introduced a new route from the UK to Samos, becoming the second airline to offer direct flights to the island after TUI.

Starting from May and running until the end of October, Jet2 will operate two weekly flights from Manchester Airport, London Stansted, and Birmingham to Samos, with ticket prices starting at £48.

Samos, with a population of 32,000, is not as popular among British tourists compared to destinations like Crete, Cyprus, or Mykonos. However, there are numerous compelling reasons to consider a visit to this island.

The island boasts a rich historical background, home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites – Pythagoreion and Heraion – and is believed to be the birthplace of the Greek goddess Hera.

Aside from its mythological significance, Samos has been the birthplace of renowned figures such as the philosopher and mathematician Pythagoras, as well as other notable personalities like Melissus of Samos, Epicurus, and Aristarchus of Samos, the first person to propose the heliocentric theory.

Known for its lush greenery, Samos stands out among the Greek islands for its diverse natural landscapes. The island features dense pine and cypress forests, with Mount Kerkis, reaching approximately 1,434 meters in height, dominating its western region and attracting avid hikers.

Despite being a Greek island, Samos is home to rivers and waterfalls, with the Potami waterfall near Karlovasi being a popular attraction, offering cascading pools ideal for a refreshing swim.

Samos also boasts a variety of beaches, ranging from bustling sandy shores to secluded pebbly stretches bordered by cliffs. Notable spots include Psili Ammos with its golden sand and remote beaches like Mikro Seitani and Megalo Seitani accessible only by foot or boat.

Antasia Nalmpanti, the general manager of Casa Cook Samos, a local hotel offering rooms starting from €243, describes Samos as a hidden gem that remains untouched by mass tourism. The island’s serene pace, untamed landscapes, and warm local hospitality create a unique and authentic experience for visitors.

Casa Cook Samos embodies the island’s spirit, blending traditional Samian architecture with modern amenities, including private beach access and a restaurant showcasing local flavors. The hotel aims to foster a sense of community through shared experiences, echoing the Greek tradition of parea, where guests can engage in natural conversations at the Parea Bar and savor local cuisine during the Samian Dinner, curated by a local yiayia.

Immerse yourself in the true essence of Samos with its untouched beauty and genuine moments of connection at Casa Cook Samos.
