A British couple, Craig and Lindsay Foreman, have had their appeal against spying convictions in an Iranian jail rejected. They were imprisoned in February despite denying the espionage charges. The couple’s family revealed they were not allowed to participate in the appeal hearing.
The Foremans were initially arrested in January 2025 while traveling through Iran on a global motorcycle tour. Concerns were raised by Lindsay Foreman’s son, Joe Bennett, about the lack of transparency in the legal proceedings. He expressed confusion over the process and the inability of his parents to comprehend the situation.
The family reported that Craig Foreman has been on a hunger strike for 25 days, while Lindsay Foreman has been fasting for 16 days. Communication between them and their loved ones has been severed by the Iranian authorities. The Foreign Office met with the family but provided no clear information on efforts made to secure the couple’s release.
The Foreign Office has cautioned British and British-Iranian nationals against traveling to Iran due to the high risk of arrest or detention. The UK government condemned the Foremans’ sentence as “completely appalling and totally unjustifiable.”
The Foreman family is urging for immediate action to facilitate the couple’s release, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.
