Tomorrow, a significant change in weather patterns is expected to bring heavy rain to many parts of the UK. Following a remarkably hot May, temperatures have now returned to typical levels for this time of year. However, thunderstorms and rain showers have begun to sweep across various regions, signaling the end of the recent heatwave.
According to the Met Office, a new weather system featuring a stronger and more southward jet stream will introduce low-pressure conditions on Wednesday. Meteorologist Aidan McGivern warned that rain will start in Northern Ireland, Wales, and the South West early in the morning, spreading to central and northern England and parts of Scotland later in the day.
While some areas may see brief periods of dry and bright weather, McGivern emphasized that showers will persist in Northern Ireland, northern and central England, and Wales. Southern regions could expect temperatures to reach 21C, with the north peaking at 19C, maintaining similar levels throughout the week.
The BBC weather forecast for the upcoming days predicts cloudy and windy conditions with occasional heavy rain and a risk of thunderstorms, especially in the north. Sunshine may break through in southern areas later in the day. Thursday is forecasted to bring a mix of sunshine and heavy showers, with a continued risk of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Friday is expected to have sunny spells alongside showers in the west and north, while Saturday could see mostly cloudy skies with light rain possible in western regions.
