A leading airline has announced the cancellation of flights from the UK to three popular vacation spots. SunExpress, a Turkish airline, attributed this decision to “ongoing geopolitical developments” and the increasing cost of jet fuel. As a result, the airline will temporarily halt four routes from the UK to Turkey during the summer 2026 season.
The affected routes include Manchester to Bodrum, Leeds Bradford to Antalya, and Glasgow to both Dalaman and Antalya. Flights on these routes are no longer available for booking. Despite these cancellations, travelers from the UK still have alternative options to reach Turkey this summer. SunExpress continues to operate routes to Antalya from various UK airports and to Dalaman from select locations.
Unfortunately, SunExpress will not offer a UK to Bodrum service this summer due to the aforementioned reasons. A spokesperson from the airline mentioned that the current aviation environment is volatile with significant cost escalations, particularly in jet fuel prices. SunExpress is implementing measures to enhance fuel efficiency and optimize flight operations.
The airline expressed regret for any inconvenience caused and assured UK travelers of a wide range of flight options to Turkey from different UK airports. SunExpress did not provide a timeline for the reinstatement of the suspended services but promised to share updates as soon as they become available.
In a related development, British Airways announced a delay in resuming flights to Dubai and three other Middle Eastern destinations. Flights to Dubai, Tel Aviv, Bahrain, and Amman are now scheduled to restart after the summer season, tentatively set for October 25. The airline attributed these schedule changes to the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East.
