“Police Seize Pyramid Rings at Appleby Fair”

Date:

Police are preparing to dispose of a number of pyramid rings confiscated in an early morning raid, citing their potential to cause harm. Cumbria Police announced that 99 rings were seized on their way to the Appleby Horse Fair. The rings, featuring a gold band topped with a pyramid, were flagged as items that could be used for malicious purposes.

The commander overseeing the Appleby Horse Fair commended the proactive efforts to ensure public safety. Dan St Quintin, the Gold Commander for the event, emphasized the importance of preventing such items from causing harm, highlighting the risks associated with similar rings being used to inflict injuries.

In a separate incident on the fair’s opening day, law enforcement officers intercepted counterfeit goods and air weapons. The joint operation between Cumbria Police and Westmorland and Furness Trading Standards led to the confiscation of various items, including vapes, toys, and perfumes. Authorities issued a stern warning that individuals attempting to bring knives or imitation firearms to the fair would face expulsion.

Catherine Hornby, Trading Standards manager for Westmorland and Furness Council, expressed satisfaction with the successful collaboration between law enforcement and the seizure of unsafe and counterfeit items. The joint operation, based on shared intelligence, prevented illicit goods from entering the market at the Appleby Horse Fair.
