“UK Heatwave Warning: Temperatures Soar to 34C”

Date:

Britain is set to experience scorching temperatures reaching up to 34C in less than two weeks, potentially surpassing some regions in the Mediterranean. Weather maps indicate that a heatwave is approaching, with temperatures expected to soar above 30C in multiple counties by June 19.

The southeast of the UK, particularly London and Surrey, is expected to face the highest temperatures, with forecasts predicting a sizzling 34C. Counties like Kent, Essex, and Sussex are not far behind, with temperatures ranging between 31C and 33C as the hot weather grips southern England, affecting 19 counties.

The heatwave is anticipated to extend across East Anglia and parts of the Midlands. Areas like Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Hampshire, and Cambridgeshire are all likely to experience highs of around 30C. Even Rutland, Leicestershire, and parts of Lincolnshire are expected to reach 30C.

Further southwest in Devon and Cornwall, temperatures are forecasted to reach a pleasant 28C. In Wales, highs are projected to be around 26C, dropping to approximately 25C in central regions.

A north-south split is predicted, with Scotland, Northern Ireland, and much of Northern England missing out on the extreme temperatures. Instead, highs in these areas are expected to range from the low teens to the mid-20s.

Before the arrival of the scorching heat, a significant rain system is forecasted to move across the UK on June 8. Following this, the Met Office warns of changeable conditions with showers or prolonged spells of rain likely to persist. The beginning of the following week is expected to be wet and windy, with rain moving southeastwards and becoming heavy in the north and west, accompanied by gusty winds. Showers are also anticipated in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
