A 4-month-old infant was thrown from a vehicle during a high-speed pursuit but miraculously sustained only minor injuries. The incident occurred in Camden, Arkansas, on May 24, when the SUV, carrying four young children, crashed and flipped over as the driver attempted to evade police at speeds exceeding 100mph.
The driver, identified as Tyrice Fletcher, aged 28, was apprehended by Arkansas State Police following the reckless chase. Authorities had initially tried to pull over the vehicle for a traffic violation, but the driver disregarded the signal, leading to the perilous pursuit along Ouachita County Road 47.
During the chase, the suspect dangerously maneuvered past other vehicles and even veered into oncoming traffic. Police attempted to halt the pursuit by ramming the vehicle, unaware that children were present inside. The situation escalated further as the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off-road, hit a pole, and overturn.
Emergency services swiftly transported all four children, including the ejected infant, to Ouachita County Medical Center for assessment and treatment of minor injuries. The children’s mother was promptly informed and rushed to the hospital.
Fletcher was taken into custody and is currently detained at the Ouachita County Detention Center, facing a litany of charges, including fleeing from authorities, endangering the welfare of minors, and various firearm and drug-related offenses.
In a statement, Capt. Rick Neill expressed, “The suspect’s actions needlessly endangered four innocent victims. Despite numerous opportunities to stop, the suspect persisted in fleeing, resulting in the hazardous situation that unfolded.”
