“Student’s £20 Flight to Milan Beats London Day Out”

Date:

One traveler seized the opportunity for a more budget-friendly adventure by opting for a trip to Italy over a day out in London. Rhys Kelly, an 18-year-old, chose to explore Milan after securing a flight for a mere £20, spending an eventful day immersing himself in the city’s charm. From sightseeing iconic landmarks to indulging in local cuisine, Rhys maximized his 11-hour visit before flying back home on the same day.

The entire excursion cost Rhys £115, a more economical alternative compared to a day in London. Rhys, a university student from Nottingham, recommended this as a must-not-miss day trip, especially for students who can take advantage of weekday fares. With Milan being compact, a brief 24-hour visit is ample to experience the city’s essence, from savoring pizza, pasta, and gelato to marveling at the Duomo.

For his journey, Rhys secured affordable flights from London Heathrow to Milan using Skyscanner, departing early in the morning and returning in the evening. Upon arrival at Malpensa Airport, Rhys and his companions hopped on a train to the city center and rented e-bikes from Dott bikes for just €5 (£4.32) to explore the sights efficiently.

Rhys highlighted the bike ride as the highlight of the trip, allowing them to cover a significant part of the city in a short span. Their itinerary included visits to Milan’s renowned landmarks such as the Duomo Cathedral. Indulging in pizza, priced at €9 (£7.78), was a standout experience for Rhys, emphasizing its value.

The group also took time to browse through high-end stores like Prada, Stüssy, and Supreme in the fashion hub, ending their day with Italian gelato before heading back to catch their return flight. While Rhys excluded some shopping expenses from his total, he was content with his spending and believed that travelers could manage the trip for even less, aiming for a cost-effective day out at £60.
