Golfer Rory McIlroy Enjoying Break at UK Mansion

Date:

Golfer Rory McIlroy is currently enjoying a break at his newly acquired residence in the UK before heading to compete in the US Open. Ranked as the world No. 2, McIlroy recently wrapped up the Memorial Tournament in Ohio, finishing in a tie for 12th place.

After posting a four under par score at the Memorial Tournament, the 37-year-old is gearing up for the upcoming US Open, one of the major golf events of the year. However, he opted out of participating in the Canadian Open this week to fly back to England.

Having traveled 3,650 miles from Ohio to Wentworth, McIlroy is settling into his new home in Surrey. The golfer plans to spend six days at his mansion before embarking on another approximately 3,500-mile journey to Southampton, New York, for the US Open at Shinnecock Hills.

McIlroy’s decision to spend quality time at his family home means missing out on the opportunity to compete in the Canadian Open, which offers a substantial prize pool of £7.3 million, with the winner taking home £1.3 million.

“I had a couple of weeks off and we got ourselves settled into our house in London for the summer. It was nice to be there for the last 10 days,” shared McIlroy before the Memorial Tournament.

The luxurious £9 million mansion, acquired in 2023, was already a top-notch property before McIlroy and his wife Erica Stoll began renovating it. The mansion, now with six bedrooms, has been expanded and revamped as the couple, along with their daughter Poppy, move from Florida.

Previously residing in a lavish £16.5 million mansion in Jupiter, Florida, since purchasing it from golf legend Ernie Els in 2017, McIlroy and Stoll have now settled among other high-profile figures in their new Surrey estate. The Sultan of Brunei, with a staggering net worth of £22.3 billion, is one of their esteemed neighbors.

Looking ahead to the US Open, McIlroy aims to clinch a second major title of the season at Shinnecock Hills following his Masters title defense in April. “Just try to keep getting a little bit better each and every day heading into Shinnecock,” he expressed.

Sky is currently offering a 20% discount on its Glass TVs range to coincide with the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Until June 17, customers can upgrade to the Sky smart TV tailored for football from £4.50 per month when bundled with a Sky TV and Netflix package.
