Citibank Executive’s Partner Apprehended After Year-Long Evasion

Date:

The partner of a senior executive at Citibank, who was discovered beaten to death in her apartment in London, has been apprehended after evading authorities for over a year.

Marianne Kilonzi, aged 43, held the position of vice president in trade and working capital sales at Citibank. She was found deceased in her residence in Woolwich on January 17 of the previous year.

Brian Kiprop Kipglagat, the individual sought in a 16-month international pursuit, was taken into custody by immigration officials on June 10 while trying to cross into Tanzania from Namanga, a border town in southern Kenya. He is now set to be extradited to the UK over his alleged involvement in her demise.

Kipglagat endeavored to enter Tanzania with a temporary permit, but his movements were being monitored by undercover agents in Kenya at the behest of British law enforcement.

The Metropolitan Police responded to a call at Ms. Kilonzi’s residence following concerns about her well-being.

The post-mortem examination determined that blunt force trauma and head injuries were the factors leading to her death.

Authorities stated that they suspected Ms. Kilonzi was acquainted with her assailant and entertained the possibility that the suspect had fled the country.

After her passing, a spokesperson from Citibank expressed their profound sorrow over the loss of their colleague, extending sympathies to Marianne’s family and friends.

It is reported that Kenyan prosecutors are awaiting a formal extradition request from UK officials.
