“Prince William Urges Tech CEOs to Lead on Climate Action”

Prince William has called on the CEOs of major tech companies to embody the leadership qualities they aspired to as children in an effort to tackle environmental issues. Speaking at the London Climate Action Week, the Prince of Wales gathered top tech executives from companies like Google, Meta, TikTok, and Amazon to announce a joint commitment to combat wildlife trafficking on their platforms.

Representing the Royal Foundation’s United for Wildlife, William expressed hope for the future but emphasized the need for greater action to address climate change and protect wildlife. Joined by actors Emma Watson and Benedict Cumberbatch at the Frameless exhibition in London, William urged global business leaders to demonstrate more ambition and courage in their environmental efforts.

During a discussion with host June Sarpong, William highlighted the importance of CEOs making strong arguments to their boards, emphasizing the positive impact of environmental initiatives on businesses. He commended the innovative individuals involved in the Earthshot Prize awards for inspiring optimism about the future.

Reflecting on the success of the Earthshot awards, William praised the collective efforts of environmentalists and tech leaders in finding solutions to environmental challenges. He encouraged CEOs to leverage their influence and embrace technology and innovation for the greater good.

Established in 2020, the Earthshot awards aim to recognize and reward innovative environmental solutions, with £1 million prizes awarded annually to five winners over a decade. The program has garnered significant interest, with William expressing confidence that collaborative efforts can combat climate change.

At a forum for The Royal Foundation’s United for Wildlife, William discussed the future of the Earthshot awards beyond 2030. Engaging with environmentalists and creatives like Al Gore and Emma Watson, the prince highlighted the importance of ongoing innovation to address environmental issues.

As the event concluded, Watson shared a personal anecdote about her journey as an environmental activist, emphasizing the power of storytelling in raising awareness and driving change.
