Prince William fulfills his royal obligations by engaging in official activities nationwide and internationally, interacting with individuals, supporting charities, and actively participating in various tasks.
Upon assuming the title of Prince of Wales following his father King Charles’ ascension to the throne, Prince William took ownership of the Duchy of Cornwall. This vast estate generates an annual private income of around £23 million for the heir to the throne.
In an exclusive interview with The Telegraph, it was disclosed that Prince William makes regular visits to different parts of the Duchy every four to six weeks. During these visits, he engages with families and staff, seeking ways to provide assistance and support.
While Prince William dedicates himself to overseeing the Duchy of Cornwall’s extensive holdings, recent reports revealed plans to sell 20% of the portfolio over the next decade. The proceeds will be directed towards addressing housing and environmental challenges.
As stated by Will Bax, the Duchy’s chief executive, Prince William aims to invest £500 million from land sales, development income, partnerships, and borrowing into his outlined priorities. The focus will be on enhancing the Duchy’s positive impact on society and the environment while preserving its historical significance and community ties.
Mr. Bax emphasized Prince William’s commitment to modernizing and expanding the Duchy’s scope beyond traditional land ownership. The prince envisions the Duchy of Cornwall as a catalyst for positive change, emphasizing collaboration to achieve social and environmental goals.
In line with this vision, Prince William plans to concentrate the Duchy’s assets in key geographic areas, including the Isles of Scilly, Cornwall, Dartmoor, the Bath region, and Kennington in south London. This strategic move aims to maximize the Duchy’s impact on these specific regions.
Furthermore, Prince William’s dedication to community welfare and environmental sustainability is driving the Duchy’s evolution towards a more impactful and modernized entity, maintaining its essence while embracing progress and innovation.
By focusing on targeted investments, partnerships, and community engagement, Prince William envisions a Duchy of Cornwall that not only upholds its historical legacy but also spearheads positive change in society and the environment.
