The United Kingdom is bracing for record-breaking temperatures this June, with a possibility of hitting the highest temperature ever recorded this week. Despite the scorching heat, heavy rainfall is also anticipated in certain areas.
The Met Office has projected temperatures to soar to 37°C today, potentially peaking at 39°C tomorrow. Weather warnings ranging from red to amber have been issued for England and Wales, cautioning that temperatures could even reach 40°C.
According to the latest forecasts by the Met Office, northern regions could experience highs of 34°C, while southern areas may see temperatures reaching 38°C on Friday. However, the forecast maps indicate significant rainfall in the morning.
Early morning maps show intense downpours expected in northern and central Scotland, as well as along the England-Wales border around 2:45 am. Rainfall is also predicted in northeastern regions by 7 am, with the heaviest showers anticipated in central Scotland.
Looking ahead to tomorrow, the Met Office anticipates rain showers and thunderstorms in north-west Scotland, while low cloud cover and fog could impact North Sea coasts. Despite this, most regions are expected to experience very hot weather.
The Met Office’s weekend outlook suggests another hot day in the east on Friday, with cooler conditions gradually approaching from the west over the weekend. This shift in weather pattern will bring spells of rain and thundery showers.
The BBC’s weekend weather forecast indicates continued hot and humid conditions on Friday and Saturday, with temperatures likely to decrease by Sunday. Sunshine is expected throughout the period, with a chance of scattered thunderstorms on Friday morning and Saturday afternoon and evening. There is a smaller risk of isolated thundery showers on Sunday as well.
