“Search for Missing Giraffe Gracie Enters Two Weeks, $5K Reward Offered”

Date:

A giraffe named Gracie has gone missing for almost two weeks, creating challenges in locating her. The three-year-old giraffe escaped from Cedar Hollow Ranch in Texas and ventured into a section of the property that other giraffes typically avoided, complicating the search efforts.

Owner Vic Jones explained that Gracie ventured into unfamiliar terrain on the ranch, making it difficult to track her movements. Despite deploying helicopters and receiving multiple sightings, finding Gracie has proven to be a daunting task in the remote and heavily wooded Real County area.

While the search area spans approximately 7,500 acres, the elusive giraffe has managed to evade capture, moving further south each time search teams approach. Vic expressed the frustration of being consistently delayed in responding to sightings, hindering their ability to locate Gracie promptly.

Although giraffes are not native to Texas, Vic believes Gracie can find ample vegetation for sustenance and is not in immediate danger from other wildlife. A reward of $5,000 (£3,600) is being offered for information leading to Gracie’s safe return.

Gracie’s disappearance coincides with the recent recovery of two missing baby giraffes from a Virginia zoo. The calves were found safe and transferred to a specialized giraffe care facility following their disappearance during an investigation into animal abuse allegations at the zoo.
