A mother who was previously informed that she would not be able to conceive due to early menopause has defied the odds by giving birth to triplets. Marina Selim, 30, and her husband Bishoy Salib, 33, welcomed three non-identical babies named Miracle, Levi, and Suriel on November 28 last year. Marina had been diagnosed with significantly reduced ovarian reserve, indicating a slim chance of ever becoming pregnant.
Despite facing challenges and being told that natural conception was improbable due to her condition, Marina persisted in her desire to have children. Medical tests revealed that her anti-Müllerian hormone levels were significantly below the normal range for her age group, making it unlikely for her to conceive without intervention. While doctors suggested egg donation as a viable option, the couple, who are devout Coptic Orthodox Christians, remained unwavering in their belief in miracles and chose to continue trying for a baby.
In a surprising turn of events, Marina discovered she was pregnant on May 19, 2025, after her periods had ceased. A subsequent scan at Brighton Hospital revealed not just one, but three babies on the way, leaving the couple astonished. The triplets were born safely on November 28 at Royal Sussex Hospital, with no medical explanation yet provided for the unexpected conception.
Bishoy expressed his belief in the miraculous nature of the birth, emphasizing that both medical professionals and the couple themselves remain baffled by the extraordinary outcome.
