“Aldi Beats McVitie’s in Digestive Biscuit Taste Test”

Date:

Digestive biscuits hold a special place in the hearts of UK biscuit lovers due to their delightful blend of savory and sweet flavors. While McVitie’s is a popular choice, various supermarkets offer their own versions of these beloved treats.

In a taste test comparing Lidl, Aldi, Asda, and Marks and Spencer digestives, one supermarket emerged as a standout performer, offering both quality and affordability. The least impressive was Lidl’s option, which deviated from the traditional digestive taste, resembling more of a Rich Tea biscuit with a lack of distinctive flavor.

M&S’s biscuits ranked next, criticized for their overly hard texture, making them difficult to enjoy. Asda’s digestives, while crumbling easily, provided a sweeter taste compared to others, which could appeal to those with a preference for sweetness.

McVitie’s Digestives, a classic favorite, maintained its reputation for excellence, boasting a unique flavor profile that pairs perfectly with a cup of tea. However, budget-friendly Aldi surprisingly outshined McVitie’s, offering a well-balanced salty-sweet taste, ideal texture, and a competitive price point, earning the top spot in the taste test.
