“Convicted Offender Breaks Down During Police Interrogation”

Date:

A man previously convicted of sexual offenses against women on the London Underground, Mansoor Ahmed, was caught on camera sobbing during a police interrogation after making violent threats to British Transport Police (BTP) staff over the phone.

Ahmed, 31, of West London, had served a two-year prison sentence following his arrest by BTP detectives for the assaults in late 2020. On May 27, he contacted the BTP First Contact Centre, referencing his crime and verbally abused the call handler for making his crimes and mugshot public.

During the call, Ahmed threatened to harm BTP staff at rail stations, including stabbing and using acid on them. Detectives swiftly located and arrested him on May 29. In a released audio clip of his police interview, Ahmed can be heard crying as he faces the prospect of more prison time.

Expressing anger over the public exposure of his crimes and photo, Ahmed explained to detectives how he reacted impulsively due to the negative publicity. He was remanded in custody and later sentenced to six months in Inner London Crown Court.

BTP Detective Constable Lee Smith condemned Ahmed’s threats as abhorrent, emphasizing the importance of swiftly apprehending him to prevent harm to officers and the public. Smith highlighted the zero-tolerance policy towards abuse or threats within the BTP community.
